A girl who travels is someone you would like to have in your life. Even better if she’s the low maintenance type. A low maintenance girl is often described as laid-back and easygoing. She is easy to please and will never ask for too much. She is always down to chill and she likes to enjoy the moment. Traveling with her will be one of the most fun and rewarding experience you will ever have. If you’re dating her, then you are in for a treat! This will surely strengthen your relationship because you will get to know her more.
She likes planning the trip.
She doesn’t complain about mapping out your itinerary, in fact she enjoys it. Truth is, she’s actually spontaneous so if the plan don’t go accordingly, she’s not going to sulk about it. She only likes the idea of having a plan so you both don’t miss out on important landmarks and activities.
She stays within the budget.
She doesn’t need to stay in a 5-star hotel all the time. She’s happy as long as you both have a room to stay that has a bed and toilets, of course. She’s not fussy with restaurants either, all she cares about is having good, clean and cheap food with you! She’s down to eat authentic local food and is open to giving street foods a try.
She believes in getting the best value for money.
She likes to compare hotel rooms, window shopping and even haggling down prices. She is uncomfortable in settling in one place without checking what the rest offers. This might mean checking 3 different hotels before choosing which one has the best value for money. Let’s not forget her negotiation skills and walking away trick that always lead to getting the lowest price whether it is during souvenir shopping or booking an activity. No wonder she always stays within the budget!
She packs light.
She only packs the essentials because she hates waiting for the bags after passing immigration. She likes carrying her backpack with her in the plane so she can sashay her way out of the airport. Packing light would also mean that she has room for some great bargain finds!
If you are looking for a cabin-sized backpack, I found mine here.
She doesn’t spend so much time getting ready.
She’s as quick, or even quicker than you when it’s time to head out. She showers the night before so she can easily roll out of bed, put on some clothes, shake out her hair (or wear it in a bun or a ponytail), then she’s done.
She is always excited.
No matter what kinds of activities are scheduled for the day, she is always looking forward to it. She considers each day in a foreign land a unique experience. Even if this means just cuddling with the boyfriend while watching television.
She won’t take you for granted.
She understands that this trip is not just about her and she’s with you because she found something good in you. So good that she wants to explore and experience a new place together. She knows very well the value of shared experiences.
So if you are still asking why it’s nice to travel with a low maintenance girl, it’s because of all these and so much more. Traveling with her is certainly fun and memorable. You will share countless of laughters, stories to tell your friends and even misadventures. But this experience is all worth it because of her. You will have a better understanding of who she is and how she works. And most importantly, how she gives you a new perspective in traveling and even in life.

Chel,
You have just described a dream girl. 🙂 I suppose each one of us have different preferences. Personally, I thought you just described the perfect girl.
I completely agree with your post wholeheartedly! When I travelled to Europe in 2013 I had to plan the entire itinerary and she was incredibly moody; it really affected the experience! Safe travels and keep up the amazing work! ^_^
I agree with you, it’s always easy to travel with a girl/guy like that. I have traveled with people that carried their whole wardrobe for a weekend city break and it was a nightmare to be honest. At checkout, the reception had to come and threaten them to free the room as it was already 11 and they didn’t finish re-packing yet, haha. 🙂
YESSS! This is me! I am planning my first international trip to Europe this summer and this whole post is so me! Thank you for sharing!!!
Reading your blog makes me so envious of your adventures! I am a true couch potato and homebody, too frugal to go traveling and too tired from work to spend weekends out of the house =)) Keep going on awesome adventures!
wow does she sound like a dream or what? But your are right, girl or boy, if your partner is low maintenance and open to changes travelling is so much easier and so much more fun
Hahaha wow, I don’t think my bf will think of me when he reads this (except for at least half of the points here, haha). Working on being a LM girl! Haha. ^__^ Thank you! This post is an eye-opener even for me.
Thank you! I’m a low maintenance girl, just like you described (except i may need some more time to get ready, but it’s still a reasonable amount of time lol). That’s also what i expect from my travelling buddies – because that’s the only way we can all enjoy our trip.
Truly amazing Chel! I do wish to have a travel buddy who has the same traits listed in this post, especially the budget part 🙂 Traveling is also an art too and sticking to the right budget is always an essential key to a memorable and successful trip 🙂
After reading this I think I am certainly a low maintenance girl 😛
I think I’m a low maintenancegirl when traveling. But I’m not sure. I don’t really plan things ahead. I suck at that though haha
I agree with everything you’ve mentioned here. I love planning trips all the time! I’m the #1 planner when it comes to getaways within our team. One thing lang na hindi ko pa kaya is packing light though. Hahaha.

I’m a low maintenance girl and I concur. 😀
Cheers Jazz! xo
