Vanderlust Tomas Morato
Vanderlust Bistro + Patisserie Tomas Morato is a nice quaint restaurant owned by Valerie Tan and Mark Anthony Tan. Inspired from their honeymoon in Europe, they decided to start a restaurant serving German, Italian and Spanish cuisines. Opened last September 2016, Vanderlust (Wanderlust) has a lot of offerings that will make you feel like you’ve been to Europe already. symbolizing the desire to sojourn, but expressed through food and the expanse of cuisines represented. The overlapping “V” and “A” in the logo of Vanderlust also serves as a hidden symbol of their union: “V” for “Valerie” and “A” for “Anthony”.nnec

Trivia: Have a look at their logo, noticed how the first letter seems to be a bit different? Look closely as you will find two letters on it. Found it? The “V” and “A” represents “Valerie” and “Anthony”. Très chic!

The restaurant is dimly lit which I think is perfect for those who are on a date or want an intimate dining experience.

Mon Cheri Poulet (French for My Darling Chicken)

This is the latest addition on Vanderlust’s menu which is basically roasted chicken, crispy bacon strip, omelet and cherry tomatoes on the side.  I love how they added crispy bacon strip to give this dish an extra crunch. The chicken is juicy and roasted to perfection.

Espaguetis de Chorizo (Spanish for Spaghetti Chorizo)

If you love Chorizos then this is a sure win for you. Served with baguette, this pasta is packed with so much flavor. It got that nice kick of paprika too!Vanderlust Bistro + Patisserie Tomas Morato Food

Arancini Al Margherita (Italian inspired)Risotto balls stuffed with mozzarella cheese, topped with pesto and Parmesan cheese and served on a bed of

I love Risotto so this was a nice treat for me. These Risotto balls are filled with mozzarella cheese and then topped with Parmesan cheese. It doesn’t end there as the dish is served on margherita sauce. Love how you get sour and salty in one dish!
Mushroom Truffle Tomas Morato
Cacio E Pepe Mushroom Truffle (Italian inspired)

I think its safe to say that all Italian pasta recipes are the bomb! Vanderlust’s Cacio E Pepe Mushroom Truffle reminds me why I love a good creamy truffle! Served with a side of baguette, you can choose from Classic, Basil Chicken, Mushroom Truffle and Prawns and Lemon.

Bocadillo de Calamares  (Spanish inspired)

Fried tender calamari in toasted baguette? yes please! Even made better with caramelized onions, aioli with a hint of zest. A bit tricky to eat for me because I have braces so I had to eat this with a fork and knife haha!

Schweinekotelett with Mustard Cream Sauce (German inspired)

Approximately 300g of pork chop served with creamy mustard sauce, German fermented cabbage and mashed potato, this dish is worth a try! I enjoyed the crispy crackling pork chop and at the same time keeping the meat tender and juicy. To make this dish really German, the sauerkraut was added. Loved the mash potato too because it was very creamy and flavorful.

Cannoli

First time I ever tried cannolis was when I was in Australia, I gotta say that I love them ever since. Vanderlust offers a wide range of cannolis: Purple Yam, White Chocolate Lemon, Blueberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip, Earl Grey, Chocolate Pistachio and Sesame. Look at the presentation, so Instagrammable!

Spanish Churros Tradicional

I’ve never really liked the churros being sold in the Philippines because I find them either too bland or too sweet. But Vanderlust’s churros changed that for me! They serve plain churros which has a nice crunch but still soft with cinnamon sugar syrup and dark chocolate syrup.

A luxxe and flavored churros in Vanderlust. They got a wide selection of flavors from Parmesano and Jamon (parmesan and ham), Maplecino (maple and bacon), Jaleahuete (PB and J), Choco Loco, La Valenciana to Red Velvet.

Schneeballen

The star of Vanderlus, the Schneeball (Snowball), a 300 year old pastry made from shortcrust pastry. This is very popular in the area of Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany). Snowball because its shaped is round like a ball with an 8-10 centimeters in diameter. The pastry is hard, just like hard biscuits, so you have to put in a paper bag and hammer it before you can enjoy it. After hammering that’s the time you pick pieces and enjoy them. It was fun breaking and eating them. My favorite flavor would definitely be the Strawberries and Cream and Hazelnut Crunch.

You can’t really bite it because it’s hard so you have to put it in a paper bag that will be served as well and then hammer away to break it into pieces.Vanderlust Bistro + Patisserie FoodVanderlust Review Tomas Morato

They also have imported beers, unli wine special and more. I highly recommend that you come visit them and have a taste of Europe.
