BUMBLE LAUNCHES IN THE PHILIPPINES BY CELEBRATING WOMEN WHO #MAKETHEFIRSTMOVE
Bumble, the woman-first online connection platform that empowers all women to make the first move in dating, friendship and professional networking, officially announced their arrival in the Philippines, with an exclusive soiree held at Whitespace Manila.
A celebration of women who #MaketheFirstMove in all aspects of their lives, the launch introduced the Bumble app, along with its three modes: Bumble Date for those seeking romantic relationships, Bumble BFF for those wanting to make new friendships, and Bumble Bizz for those looking to grow their professional network.
Founded by Whitney Wolfe Herd as a way to challenge the antiquated rules of dating, the platform is known for its unique proposition of requiring women to send the first message. Bumble is on a mission to shift old-fashioned power dynamics, and promotes equality, kindness and respectful interaction, building a safe online community for users to build new relationships.
Representing the brand at the launch were:
Michelle Battersby, Bumble’s Associate Director for Asia Pacific
Alex Suarez, Bumble Philippines’ Country Lead
Charlotte Fleming, Bumble Australia’s Marketing Manager
“We’re so excited to officially launch Bumble in the Philippines, our first country in Southeast Asia,” says Battersby. “We love how Filipinos are becoming more progressive when it comes to gender roles, and see this is a great opportunity to remind them to make the first move in all aspects of their lives.”
Influencer and business woman, Patricia Henson, was present to share her own experience of how she took charge, and pursued something she really wanted.
“One moment in my life when I made the first move was when I started my business and passion project, Costa Swimwear,” shares Henson. “Starting it out was difficult but I just always trust in my gut and was confident in making all my moves. I always believe that if there’s something you want that you can’t find, it’s up to you to make it happen.”
During the event, we were treated to a wide array of activities to help us be more inspired and give us that boost of confidence to make the first move.
Key photo moments styled by Moss Manila were spread across the event space, starting with the Yellow Forest entrance, a walkway lined with trees with amber leaves. Other photo areas included a honeycomb-inspired wall and separate spaces representing the different Bumble modes.
New users that registered and created their profile at the event received some tips on how to make their accounts stand out at the Bio Bar, including how to best describe themselves and select the most eye-catching photos, the key to making the perfect first impression.
Side story: I’ve been using Bumble Date even before the official launch here in the Philippines. I’m not really looking for anything specific at the moment but I love meeting new people. I’ve only met two men so far and I must say mas quality sila compared to other dating apps.
I have yet to try Bumble BFF and the newest mode: Bumble Bizz. So exciting!
While dancing the night away to beats by DJ Jess Milner, we enjoyed the specially crafted cocktails at the Queen Bee Bar. We had the options of Queen Bee, a lemon-infused gin-based drink with a dash of honey for that perfect amount of sweetness, or the Buzzed on You, a vodka-based drink mixed with hibiscus tea for a the right balance of floral and fun. I personally love the Queen Bee drink!
A bespoke menu prepared by Cibo di M also included several stations for grazing, carving, and pasta to complement the drinks.
Since its launch in 2014, Bumble has amassed over 50 million users from around the world, has inspired over half a billion women-led first moves and over four billion messages sent, and is one of the fastest growing social connection apps.
