2014 Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival

Back in the Philippines, I used to be really active in almost all running marathons. But work became hectic, shifting schedules etc, I had no time for training. So while I’m here in Melbourne, I figured why not join some.

I Googled for events calendar and chose the best one, then registered online.
Witihin a few minutes, I received the confirmation email. We have to start slow so I opted to join the 3KM walk. We had to pay $45 each as we don’t qualify for the early bird fee anymore. We also need to pick up our race packs from the Medibank Melbourne Marathon Festival Race Week Office (details in the email).

ENTRY FEES

Adult – Early Bird $35.00
Child (0 – 16 Years) – Early Bird $15.00
Adult – Standard Entry $45.00
Child (0 – 16 Years) – Standard Entry $20.00

The $45 fee includes:

  • Race Bib
  • Race Information Booklet
  • Show bag and gift
  • Finishers Medal
*The 3km Walk is not a timed event, therefore there won’t be a timing chip attached to the bib
3KM event details:
Start Time 11:15am
Start Location Batman Avenue
150m North of Rod Laver Arena
Other distance available are:
  • Half Marathon 42.195
  • Half Marathon 21.1
  • Run 10KM
  • Run 5KM

Though I am not really going to run, I’m pretty excited because this is my first international event. This is scheduled on a Sunday 12th of October.

  1. running is a good exercise and its good to know you've found one marathon in your place right now.. – kaycee

  2. That is rather a late time to start a run, near lunchtime already! Our runs here start very early in the morning or in the evenings to avoid the sun's heat and traffic.

  3. Don't you think it is a bit late to start a run? Near lunchtime already! Hehe. I thought runs should start early mornings or evenings to avoid sun heat and traffic.

  4. The 4 other running distance are starting early 🙂 The least distance always starts the latest even in Manila. Luckily, traffic doesn't exist here and we don't need to worry about heat or humidity 🙂

  5. good luck for the event! we have lots of such events here in sg. and the next one coming up is Hello Kitty Run.

  6. You gave me an idea though I'd look for a race in Sydney as my relatives are located there. I'm sure you're aching to run there.

  7. It is great that adults and kids can both participate in the Melbourne marathon! I love the idea of the medal rewards and the whole event seems to be great.

  8. Another marathon buddy~~~~ I understand your pain. Work schedule always bothering much in scheduling the event we love

  9. I wish we didn't have humidity, heat and traffic here in Malaysia :'( I love walking when I travel and not having to worry about the heat making me sticky and tired. My running buddies are not complaining though!

  10. So Melbourne has activities posted online for people to participate? That's interesting. How long will you be in Melbourne for? Hope you write more about your stay there!

  11. I've joined a lot of runs here in Manila and I constantly wonder how it must be like in places like Melbourne! Can't wait to read about your experience there in Melbourne! 😀

  12. Honestly, i never join any run event. But I'd love to do it someday.. Thsi is great. But the cost is quite pricey..

  13. It's good to know that you're still active in marathon even though your in living in other country now. -KArenT
