One weekend ago, I had a lovely lunch with my foodie friends at La Maripili at the Ayala Malls the 30th in Pasig City. I was running a bit late so I found all of them in one of the outdoor tables, shooting two soups that were served already.

The owner, Elena Balaguer, who currently has two branches (the other one is in the South), was beyond lovely for words. She was very accommodating and was explaining every dishes that she was serving to us.

Creamy Carrot Soup with Orange and Ginger P260

A sophisticated and exquisite twist to a carrot soup served over a vegetable melange.

Creamy Mushroom Soup P370

Mushroom soup made with a combination of fresh shiitake, button and oyster mushrooms served over a bed of melted brie cheese and croutons.

These two were delicious and are really great as starters. But if I had to choose one, I’d pick the Creamy Mushroom Soup – but thats because I love mushrooms.

Burrata P600

Artisan burrata cheese and farm to table tomatoes garnished with pesto sauce, olive tapenade, kalamata olives, sun-dried tomatoes and arugula.

THE BEST BURRATA I HAVE EVER TRIED!

Patatas Bravas P480

Special double cooked fried potatoes served with top quality fried chorizo and topped with brava sauce (spicy mayonnaise with a chili and tomato blend). As described in La Maripili’s menu, you should close your eyes because every bite will take you to a tapas bar in Spain.

The brava and chorizo completed this dish for me. So good!

Huevos Rotos P490

Special double cooked fried potatoes served with two fried eggs and topped with jamon serrano. Mix everything together and enjoy the authenticity of one of Spain’s most famous tapas.

This alone can definitely fill me up. A must try!

Arroz a la Cubana P390

A typical Spanish rice meal with homemade tomato sauce, roasted meat, fried egg and plantain.

La Maripili’s home-cooked Adobo P590

An heirloom recipe of tender chicken and pork adobo served with a sweet contrast of ripe mango and banana.

This I haven’t seen anywhere else. Surprisingly, all the flavors blended together very well.

Pepperoni, ground beef, smoked bacon, farmer’s ham, mozzarella in tomato sauce

Cuatro Quesos y Salsa Verde Pizza P460 (La Maripili’s take on 4 Cheese)

Gorgonzola, parmesan, cheddar, mozzarella with pesto

Black Truffle Pizza P650

Black truffle paste, fontina cheese, curly endives with homemade honey vinaigrette.

This black truffle pizza was the bomb! And if you noticed, their pizzas are generous when it comes to the toppings and has a nice thin crispy flavored crust.

And of course, for dessert, we gotta have La Maripili’s signature churros that’s crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We were given three dips to try: hot chocolate, salted caramel and, suizo (hot chocolate topped with freshly made whipped cream).

Best Churros in town, hands down. I love all three dips but I think I’ll be coming back for more Suizo.

Guys, if you find yourself around Ortigas or Pasig area and craving for a taste of Spain, La Maripili is definitely a must visit for brunch, lunch, dinner, snack (for everything basically) . I will definitely come back here!
